Moving sidewalks

As you approach, listen for motor sounds and feel the surface change to the rough metal platform. On the platform, stop your feet and with your free hand, locate the handrail. If it feels like the handrail is moving towards you, this sidewalk is going in the wrong direction and you should not board it. In this case, turn around, exit the platform and ask Glide to find a different moving sidewalk. If the handrail is moving away from you, this sidewalk is going in the correct direction and it is safe to board the moving sidewalk.

Timing is not important, just walk forward and keep your hand on Glide’s grip. If you choose to stand still while riding the moving sidewalk, rest Glide in standby position in front of you. If you choose to walk on the moving sidewalk, Glide will of course stay in ready position. You will know when it is time to exit the moving sidewalk by the change in surface texture. Glide’s wheels will noticeably roll over the rough metal platform at the far end as it exits the moving sidewalk. This is your cue to tilt Glide into ready position and begin, or continue, walking until you are completely off the rough metal platform before stopping or making turns.
