Curbs

Glide has been trained to stop at all drop-down curbs and drop-offs, whether they are straight ahead or close to its right or left side. Find a quiet sidewalk with a drop-down curb to practice with, it does not have to be at a corner. Slowly walk directly towards the drop-down curb, notice that Glide applies the brakes to prevent you from stepping off the curb. If turning right or left is possible, Glide will turn away from the curb, allowing you to continue walking with the curb at a safe distance on your right or left. If you try to veer towards the curb, Glide will apply the brakes to prevent you from going over the edge. Glide will respond the same for curbs and drop-offs in its peripheral view, such as a curb on your right or a drop-off from the sidewalk into landscaping or a drainage ditch to your right.

Ramps

Glide is trained to guide up a ramp with some hill assistance from the motor. Glide is trained to guide down a ramp and will announce “road ahead” and stop if the ramp leads into a street.

Steep incline or decline

If the angle of your path becomes very steep, you may need to modify your grip or adjust the stem length for proper camera views. When walking on a steep path uphill or downhill, try extending your hand farther forward so the stem is more vertical, or shorten the stem slightly. This adjustment allows the cameras to see the path ahead of you instead of the sky or ceiling above you.
