Getting to know your Glide

  1. Locate the wheels.

Glide has 2 all-terrain wheels: one on the right, and one on the left side of Glide’s base.

  1. Between the wheels is Glide’s base. It houses the motor and other components that make Glide work.

On the front of the base is the kickstand or bumper, a curved bar for standing the device upright and protection for the base.

On the bottom side of the base is the battery door, should you ever need to access it.

Dividing the top from bottom of the base is an LED light ring for increased visibility to the public.

Stand Glide up vertically with the wheels and kickstand resting on the ground.

On the back side of Glide’s base opposite the kickstand is the power area.

Just above the charging port is a round power button marked with a Braille letter P. Below the power button is a rubber flap which protects the charging ports. Lift the flap upwards, underneath you will feel the magnetic connector, with the USB-C port directly above it.

  1. Trail your hands up from the base and locate the stem.

The stem has two telescoping sections that can be adjusted to your height, using the two latches.

  1. At the top of the stem you will feel the handle.

On the front side of the handle are the two cameras. One faces forward and the other faces downward.

  1. Above the cameras and below the grip are the microphones, two very tiny holes at the far right and far left.

In the center between the microphones there is a circular group of holes which make up the speaker.

Below the microphones and above the cameras, where the front of the handle curves to the right and left, there is a safety light on each side which flashes during street crossings.

  1. On the flat backside of the handle, there is a single round button used to adjust Glide’s audio volume. Just below it is a small sensor to detect your body position when following Glide.

  2. The very top part of the handle is the grip.

Place your hand palm side down over the grip, curl your fingers underneath to locate a single long button. This is the “Glide” button. It is used to set travel direction, check battery status, and initiate crossings.

With your hand still on the grip, extend your thumb outwards and locate two round buttons. The button to the right is the right button, and the one on the left is the left button. If you switch and hold the grip with your other hand, there is a second set of right and left buttons on that side of the grip.

  1. Press and hold the power button to turn Glide on. To confirm you pushed the power button, Glide will pulse twice. The boot-up sequence sounds like two quiet beeps followed by some silence, then two more quiet beeps, more silence, and a single louder beep. When Glide is ready to use, you will hear it announce, “Let’s Glide!”

  2. To charge Glide, best results are achieved by using the fast charger brick and cable provided in your shipment. Alternatively, use a USB-C charger rated 60W or higher with USB-C to USB-C charging cable rated at the minimum 60W or 3A. Other USB-C charger and cable types will not damage Glide, however reliable charging is not guaranteed.

Plug one end of the USB-C cable into the brick, and insert the other USB-C end into the charging port under the dust cover. The USB-C port is at a 35-degree angle, connect the cable end by tilting it slightly downward, neither horizontal nor vertical to insert. When properly connected, Glide’s motor will pulse twice.

  1. If you provided your home WiFi SSID and password, Glide will automatically connect to your home WiFi network.

If you opted to receive a pre-programmed router with Glidance SSID and password, connect one end of the EtherNet cable to the Glidance router WAN port and the other end to an EtherNet WAN port on your home WiFi router. Then connect the Glidance router to one end of the power cable provided and plug the power adapter end into an outlet.
